We all know that Louisiana is rapidly losing its wetland areas. Through the joint efforts of conservationists, environmental organizations and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, some of the critical wetland areas are now protected through the National Wildlife Refuge System. The Southeast Louisiana Refuges include: Bayou Sauvage, Big Branch Marsh, Bogue Chitto, Breton, Delta, Atchafalaya, Bayou Teche and Mandalay.
The full potential of these refuges can be realized only with the continued commitment and support of the public. Our purpose is to provide that support by promoting educational and environmental projects that, without assistance, could not be accomplished solely through the efforts of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Please share our passion for environmental education, the preservation of wildlife habitat and the public stewardship of the Southeast Louisiana Refuges. Your participation will help ensure the unique wetland habitat in our area will be preserved and all of us will continue to enjoy the extraordinary natural resources that we can no longer afford to take for granted.
The Friends is a nonprofit 501 ( c ) 3, membership organization. |
